Houston’s : Pasadena

A bit pricey, but worth it – on the corner of Arroyo Parkway and Del Mar Blvd. in Pasadena [one of many owned by the Hillstone Group].

Overall Score: 9/10

When you should go:

Try and make a reservation. If you can’t, you can try waiting. I’d recommend going on a weekday at around 5:30 or 6 – if the wait is really long, you can always sit at the bar or one of the bar tables if they’re open.

What we drank:

Belvedere and Soda with muddled cucumber, Pomegranate Mojito (AMAZING)

What we ate:

Chicago Style Spinach and Artichoke Dip, French Dip with Fries, Homemade Veggie Burger with a side of Peruvian Corn

Best Choice:

Toss up…it’s all just SO GOOD.

Why?

Every time I crave spinach dip, I can’t get my mind off going to Houston’s. It isn’t the same ANYWHERE else, and their chips are perfect and go quite well with the salsa and sour cream they also serve with the dip. Its a must-have if you’re going to Houstons – perfect for sharing or enjoying solo!

However…the homemade veggie burger is something I’ve been getting at Houston’s since my vegetarian phase (when I was about 12, for a few months). Whether you are a vegetarian or not, this is one of the heartiest burgers you will ever have. The melted jack cheese on top adds to its denseness, and as hard as it tries, it fails at keeping the burger in one piece. But that’s the best part!! You eat it as a burger, then you still have an entire “salad” of veggie burger + lettuce + tomato to eat with a fork afterwards. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.

TIP:

If there is street parking, park there. To avoid that parking lot would be the best tip I could give.
